Greene Brothers Well & Pump

Greene Brothers has been drilling wells out of Canton since 1945, and the business has stayed in the Greene family for three generations. They cover Canton, Waynesville, and Asheville.

Private wells are ordinary here rather than exotic. Anything outside a town’s water system is almost certainly on one, which means well and pump work is a normal part of owning property in this part of the county — and a pump failure is an emergency in a way that most home repairs are not.

Alongside drilling and pump systems they do geothermal drilling for ground-source heat pumps, plus hand pumps and solar-powered pump systems for sites without reliable power.

If you are buying a house on a well, have the water tested and ask when the pump was last replaced. Neither is expensive during due diligence and both are expensive as a surprise.
